Chew Or We're Lost (2017)

Durational Performance in collaboration with Afrodite Dafnou. Thessaloniki, Greece.

How many times do we see pressed chewing gums becoming one with the surface of the road or pavement?
Would it be more useful instead of creating bumps on the street - and on the soles of our shoes - to start covering the holes, creating colored patches?

The performance Chew Or We're Lost (Greek: Μασάτε γιατί χανόμαστε) is an attempt to reconstruct a pavement puddle in Kapani open market with chewing gums as the building material.

One of the main ingredients of chewing gum is plastic. Therefore, it is almost impossible to melt over time. The conditions of the public space (rain, friction etc) favor our aim, as they gradualy turn the material into something that resembles cement (solid, stable, grey).
